In creativity this week, heroes Shammila and Desree ran a fantastic session continuing our 'staying alive' theme. After looking at food groups on the food plate and the food pyramid, and investigating healthy eating, everyone set out to make their own fruit designs! |

This week at Step Up, we continued work on our exciting projects in each subject!
In Numeracy, we continued to work on our Bottle Rockets: this week, we made Budget Projections about what we were going to spend our rocket funds on. Also, everyone worked really hard on some tasks about percentages!
In creativity, Heroes Desree and Jumar delivered another brilliant session on First Aid. This week, the focus was CPR. Every person, pupils and Heroes, did an excellent job practising the CPR technique on the manikins. Well done also to the people who remembered the DRS-ABC and how to perform the recovery position, which we learned last week.
In literacy, we carried on our research into issues in the world, from global warming to deforestation, then wrote persuasive letters to Miss Lee, explaining how we can solve them and what we can do in the school to save the planet, with her permission. Congratulations to everyone for writing such fantastic, descriptive letters - it'll be exciting to hear Miss Lee's response!
Today was our first week back at Step Up after the Winter holidays, and we kicked off the new year with some awesome activities!
In Literacy, we learned some interesting information about wildlife and conservation. We watched videos from the WWF about saving the planet and the animals that live here. Then, we practised note-taking skills by answering questions based on information given about various endangered species, from whales to rhinos!
In Numeracy, we started our ongoing project for the term - bottle rockets! To prepare for the making and launching of our space rockets, each group divided into teams to plan their budgeting. Everybody took part in assigning themselves a company role, and organising what materials to buy to make a rocket.
In Creativity, everyone was the first in the school to take part in a course about First Aid. Today's task was learning the recovery position. Everybody did a great job memorising the key steps and putting their knowledge to the test in real life scenarios. Today's creativity session was run by Desree and Jumar, two of our Hero coordinators. A huge thank you to them for delivering such important (but enjoyable) sessions!
